“As a little girl, I enjoyed writing and creating. What began as an interest soon developed into a passion that I expressed through writing.
Becoming an entrepreneur has always been part of the vision for my life. I had no idea June Publishing would be how God would bring June Publishing into my life. June Publishing is a creative safe space where artists are supported in cultivating and more broadly sharing their masterpieces with the world. The aim of this publishing house is to encourage, inspire and enlighten. Our goal is to assist individuals who are interested in self publishing.

June Publishing is named after my grandmother June Elaine Hector Lewis. June was the only child of John and Vera Hector. John was the first black Vice President of Ivan Allen Co. and Vera was a long-time educator in the Atlanta Public School System. June grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and was considered a triple threat as represented by her exquisite beauty, brains and unmatched talent.

June’s talent was evident at a young age. She would often seclude herself in her room for hours sketching, drawing and painting. As June matured, her artistry became well-rounded which eventually expanded into sculpting, painting and basket weaving. June honed in on her craft at Spelman College and New York University where she earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree, respectively. Her work has received many accolades and has been featured in galleries; local and national publications; and institutions of higher learning. June was vibrant like the sun and full of life. This zeal for life and the arts was perhaps most evident as she nurtured developing artists in secondary and post-secondary educational settings. June was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 25 and with sheer determination was successful in forging a successful career in the arts. Debilitating health complications ultimately hastened her retirement and eventually her death. My grandmother passed away when I was six months old. I never had the opportunity to experience her for myself. I share her middle name which makes me feel inextricably connected to her in such a meaningful way. June Publishing is a tribute to my grandmother’s tenacity, grace and beauty. Every work of art produced at June Publishing will be produced in the spirit of excellence to further the human experience. In loving tribute to generational possibilities – June Publishing”
